MTH-4109-1 – Sets, Relations and Functions

This course is divided into three parts. The first is aimed at helping learners to develop an understanding of set theory. The second part will allow learners to master the concept of relation and the formal language associated with it. Lastly, the third part will help learners to master the concepts relating to functions, to discover various functional situations, to represent these situations and to analyze them.

• Defining a Relation Using Set-Builder Notation;

• Cartesian Graph of a Function;

• Parabolas;

• equations of a First- or Second-degree Polynomial Functions;

• Describing the Characteristics of Various Functions;

• Comparative Analysis of Functional Situations.

Evaluation:

A supervised ministerial examination in an adult education centre.

Passing mark: 60%
