In the PSC-4010-2 – Nuclear Technology: A Matter of Energy course, the learner will learn to assess the causes and consequences of changes in matter and will examine how they relate to the evolution of technology, society and environmental problems.

This learning guide aims to help the learner achieve the following objectives:
- To describe the development of the various atomic models throughout history by exploring the representation of the atoms of the 20 lightest elements;
- To analyze the periodic table of elements;
- To explain the phenomenon of radioactivity as a consequence of changes that take place in the nucleus of an atom;
- To explain how nuclear reactions are used in medicine, technology, socioeconomic decision making and environmental sciences;
- To present the results of a research project by explaining and justifying one’s opinion about one of the current uses of nuclear technology.
Evaluation:
Supervised ministry examination plus a research project.
Passing mark: 60%
